Welcome to the Woodstock Elevation Challenge, an open invitation to get outside
and explore the natural world in and around Woodstock, Vermont.

The Elevation Challenge really has two parts:

The Hiking Edition is a collection of 7 fairly easy day hikes in and around Woodstock. They include Mt. Peg and Mt. Tom in Woodstock, Lucy’s Lookout in Barnard, 3 short sections of the Appalachian Trail in Pomfret, and the final hike is Mt. Ascutney in Brownsville. Very doable in a season.

The Biking Edition is a collection of 5 road rides that vary from 18 to 53 miles that require a little more preparation and training. All rides start and end at the Green in the Village of Woodstock. The selected routes showcase the natural beauty of Woodstock and the surrounding towns, following rivers and streams, passing lakes and ponds, climbing to skyline vistas of the rolling hills and mountains.

Challenge yourself to do either the Hiking Edition or the Biking Edition. When you complete either one, you will earn the title of Elevation Worthy Hiker or Elevation Worthy Biker and be listed on this website. You will also receive a sticker as proof that you did it. AND, you will receive a special discount at the two sponsors of the Elevation Challenge: Elevation Clothing and the Worthy Kitchen in Woodstock, Vermont.

So. What are you waiting for? Get outside!”
